Research Roots can investigate your family tree whether you know a great deal or very little about your roots. If you have carried out a lot of research yourself but need a fresh pair of eyes, we can help untangle the thorniest research problems. We can also provide ‘quick fix’ support, such as locating birth, marriage and death certificates and other family records. Not everyone with an interest in family history has the time or inclination to do it themselves. We have the energy, resources and expertise to do it on your behalf, whether you wish to commission research for yourself or as a gift. It is surprising what can be discovered from the tiniest snippets of information or family lore.
HOW IT WORKS
When it comes to family history, one size does not fit all. Most of our work is commissioned on the basis of an hourly rate (£40 per hour) which we have found to be the best way of addressing the wide variety of research questions our clients ask of us. Every project begins with an initial conversation to discuss what you are hoping to find out and what you already know about the subject in question. Once we have a clear understanding of your requirements, we will let you know how long we think the research is likely to take and agree a realistic budget. Due to the time consuming nature of our work, a minimum of 5 hours is usually required. We can normally begin work with 2-3 weeks of a commission.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
Once research has begun, we like to keep you updated by email. At the end of the commissioned hours, we will get in touch with you to discuss what it has been possible to achieve and any outstanding research objectives. At this point, we can also produce a formal report on our findings, and a custom family tree print, if required. Please note that all international research and Jewish genealogy is carried out on this basis, and bear in mind it can be more time consuming to research ancestors outside England and Wales. Please see our terms of business for more information.
COME BACK FOR MORE
We keep all our records in such a way that whether you wish to come back for more straight away, or when funds permit, we can easily pick up where we left off. That way, you can also ask friends and family for gift tokens towards further research.
Please get in touch to discuss your research project.
